Chef Roy Salazar is a 2007 recipient of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Presidential Medallion, the only chef-instructor in the nation to receive one. He was awarded the prestigious Antonin Carème Medal in 2006, also from the ACF; with this award, Roy joins an elite group of chefs who have made "outstanding contributions to the culinary profession, education, the advancement of gastronomy and the culinary arts." Since 1960 there have only been 133 chefs to receive this honor, including Julia Child and Martin Yan. Roy is a long-time instructor at the California Culinary Academy. An expert in Asian cuisine, he is a member of the Association for Chinese Cooking Teachers and has worked with Martin Yan as a contributing author of Chinese Cooking for Dummies. Roy is president of ACF San Francisco chapter and was also named Chef of the Year for the Pacific Coast in 2006.
