Cookbook author, pastry chef and teacher, Alice Medrich is one of the country's foremost experts in cooking with chocolate. She founded the landmark company, Cocolat, in Berkeley in 1976 and is credited with raising the standards of chocolate desserts and confections ever since. She is the award-winning author of numerous chocolate cookbooks, including Cocolat, Bittersweet and Chocolate Holidays. Her next book, Pure Dessert will be published in Fall 2007. Alice appeared on the Food Network in the "Chef de Jour" and "Baker's Dozen" series and was a featured chef on Julia Child's PBS Television series, "Baking with Julia" and with Joan Nathan in "Jewish Cooking in America." Alice consults in the baking and chocolate industry and teaches in cooking schools across the country.
